TJGuitar85
August 13th, 2001, 00:44
Im confused is that free? what does it mean by nameserver?

Bruce
August 13th, 2001, 01:00
A .kg is not free, but a *.*.kg is.

What do they mean by name server?
Usually NS1.YOURHOST.com and NS2.YOURHOST.com

Chekc with your host to be sure though.

TJGuitar85
August 13th, 2001, 01:32

Hi,

Geocities doesnt provide domain hosting (I think you might have to pay for it). So you cannot use those namservers, also domainzero do not provide free domains anymore.

Free domains aren't worth it, trust me. You'll regret it afterwards.

BUT... if you insist... http://www.emeisp.com

TJGuitar85
August 13th, 2001, 10:52
woah then .com.kg is a REAL domain that you can use for FREE?, not one of those namezero things?

LeX
August 13th, 2001, 11:15
Yup, they're real domains. And 100% free. No catch.

Bruce
August 13th, 2001, 11:49
I think of them more as subdomains...

niv
August 13th, 2001, 11:57

That just spoils the illusion of having a free domain :(

Think of them any way you want. They are real domains.

If you were to look up the gentleman in the record, I am sure you would find he is either an official of the governement or the agency with whom the government contracts administration of the .kg domain. He's no doubt listed just to avoid the screw up that happened at another domain a few months ago, where they actually did allow someone to register the com.xx but already had hundreds of xxx.com.xx domains registered.

xxx.com.kg is no less a domain than xxx.co.uk would be, or xxx.tampa.fl.us is. You must remember the country code TLDs are a very late afterthought in the DNS system, and many of the rules relating to their administration are left to the individual countries to which they are assigned.

They are as real as .co.uk and our little known .pp.se. Go get one. Get ten. :)

Only in the .US domain. On it's own, .CA is Canada.

blah. why didn't they do .co.kg then? hmm? :p

TJGuitar85
August 14th, 2001, 22:28
well, I think he/she was asking what the CA meant under my username under location.

You'd have to ask them. COM is apparently more common than CO in ccTLDs, so it is probably just a matter of keeping up with the Joneses.

.mu seems to have both... There are people that apparently have .com.mu's registered and their registry site advertises .co.mu's....

Aren't Mauritius domains expensive?

Mandrake
August 15th, 2001, 12:47
I don't know... They're main site (nic.mu) seems to have never been completed. The link to register does not work and there's no price information on the site. I know of another site that registers them (www.hot.mu) and they ARE expensive ($100.00).

what kind do you mean? co.uk or pp.se?

BTW, where do you register for .pp.se domains?

meow
August 15th, 2001, 15:41
I don't know. We don't have registrars in the sense you know them and I haven't seen them with any international registrar. I could find out if you are interested but they cost, so I don't think you are. ;) There are also regulations concerning the names you can choose. In one word - they suck.

Hi Innocentius! Long time. :)
No, nic-se doesn't sell themselves. They link to some cheesy solicitor's offices and such that are authorized to sell the TLD. They all want like 2000 SEK...:confused2

you only have to type in your organization name and email address, all the other fields are optional
