I need a webhost that provides the following:
Minimum 25 email addresses (prefer 50+) with pop3/smtp AND a webmail interface that is full featured (sent folder to save mail at minimum).
Minimum 100 MB
Transfer 10GB (higher of course is always ok)
Telnet access (in case I have to install Smartlist)
PHP4, cgi access/Perl
Minimum 1 MySQL database
MUST have 30day money back guarantee, telephone #s to talk to real, live people, and been in business more than one year.
And MOST IMPORTANT:
_REAL_ mailing lists. Not some crippled majordomo muddled mess where you can't even administer the thing properly and they try to charge you extra to install something workable (that's what the host I first tried did).
The site is for 3 pretty large play-by-email clubs, so it needs reliable and easily administered mailinglists (discussion and distribution). I need to be able to add a footer to three of the lists (a legal disclaimer required by the author of the series the pbems are based on). I need to be able to add a subject tag line. I need to be able to administer both via the web and via email, but will settle for just email admin. Users must be able to subscribe themselves via email. Users must be able to send email to a XX@mydomain.com address, not use a web interface to post.
I know this isn't too much to demand - I've had paid lists that do it (majordomo based), and my original server (yorweb.com) had Smartlists and procmail. The main reason I'm leaving yorweb is that they've oversold space and now server lag and downtime have become a problem.
I'm not too picky on price. I currently pay $46 quarterly, but have no problem going up to $65-70 if necessary quarterly. I have my own domain and will transfer it myself.
Two hosts that have been recommended to me are www.aplushosting.com and www.liquidweb.com - anyone got opinions on them?
