I just read in the forum at godaddy.com that they don't allow MX record change. So I cannot use name@domain.com. I know about transferring the domain over to mydomain.com to have them change the MX record to be able to use servives like everyone.net BUT is this the only way to defeat the godaddy MX-change restriction?

Many registrars do not offer DNS services. They simply allow you to point the domain to a nameserver. You don't have to transfer the domain, you simply have to enter in mydomain.com's nameserver's (see mydomain.com for these), and enter them into your cp at godaddy.

But when I want to sign up for a webhost (for instance...let's say I will sign up at valuablehost.com), I have to enter my contro panel at godaddy.com to transfer my DNS. But if I already have it point to mydomain.com, then how will I be able to transfer my DNS to valuablehost?

godaddy will let you change name servers in their panel. so you can just login to godaddy and change it there.. some registrar's provide other DNS services like setting A, CNAME, MX records, but you must use the registrar's DNS servers for it to work.

if you point your domain to a host's DNS servers, then you have to get in touch with your host to change the MX records, etc...

I think it's possible to point your godaddy domain to mydomain.com. Change the MX server there, and then re-point your domain from mydomain.com to a REAL host.

If your name servers are your host's name server info, then your host should be able to make the MX change on their server. If you are using your own host DNS.
