I'm shopping around for my first web host. I'm developing a site that will probably just have personal content (I just went on a trip around the world, so it will have a travelogue and lots of photos, plus collections of my other writings). So initially it will definitely be G-rated or at most PG.
But I'm also interested in erotica, so I may wind up wanting to post some sexually explicit stories. And I'm transgendered, and I have an idea of posting info about queer/transsexual issues. In my opinion, this type of content is not obscene, but I understand it's the hosting company not me that determines what is obscene (if that's part of the restriction in the AUP).
Should I include "allows adult content" as part of my search criteria for a good host? It seems like that's really going to narrow the prospects down, plus increase my costs. I don't think I'm going to need a lot of bandwidth, but with all the travel photos I might need around 50mb or more of disk space.
Any recommendations or advice? I'm thinking I should look for a host based on my primary considerations (reliability, customer service, $15/mo or less). And if I wind up adding explicit content later, to worry about where I'll post it then.
thx.
