Hi,

I have 5 domains registered with domainzero.com and I don't want to pay $25 for each one of them. I tried to transfer one of them to godaddy.com but I got email that my domain is locked or is hold and that transfer has failed. I don't know how to unlock my domains. When I log on http://access.enom.com I can change my information and the nameservers but that's it. There is no link to unlock domain or something like that. Even if I send email to enom with request to unlock my domains, how do I know when they will be actually unlocked? To what email to send such a request?

Thanks for help,
Peter

You mus email domainzero and ask them to unlock it

I also have a DomainZero domain and I emailed info@enom.com to get it unlocked. This is the response I got:

Open an account at eNom and ask us to move it there.
The weird thing is, they unlocked my domain in the past, but before I got a chance to transfer it, they locked it again without even telling me...

Hello,

You must use the following email address:

ehost@networkcommerce.com

Thanks! I remember now that I used that email address, not info@enom.com, to ask them to unlock my domain last time...

Open an account at eNom and ask us to move it there.

That was their advice, not too difficult. You create an account and ask them to push the domain(s) into that account.

Justin,

As outlined in our Terms of Service all domain names registered through
DomainZero.com must remain registered with Network Commerce for one
entire year. Upon reaching the expiration date, domain name owners
have the choice of either allowing the domain to expire or renew the
domain name with us for additional year at $24.95. Once you have
renewed your domain name for at least one year, the Registrar-Lock will
be removed from your account and you will be free to transfer the domain
name to another registrar, and Registrar-Lock will be removed from your
domain name.

Thanks,
Jeff, eHost Support
A Division of Network Commerce, Inc.

I let them know that what they were doing was against ICANN's registrar agreement and that they nulled their terms of service by not filling their portion of the agreement which was after the initial year of registration, the registrant may either renew the domain using the free program or choose not to opt in to the lists and pay the fee. Obviously, they are doing something wrong here. If enom does not take the register-lock off, they are violating ICANN's rules and we will need to take action.

I agree Justin,

What do you suggest to do? To write to ICANN and to inform them about this problem? I'm not going to pay these losers (domainzero.com) a single cent. Let's take action!

I'm a bit confused about something. How did they violate their own terms? The fee is $24.95 (this is from the email you posted). If this is why they are violating their own agreement:

after the initial year of registration, the registrant may either renew the domain using the free program or choose not to opt in to the lists and pay the fee

-then you must realize that this was *not* the actual agreement. It might be what you remember of it, but it was more like:

If at the time of renewal, the opt-in list program is still available, you will have the opportunity to sign up again for the free program, or pay the registration fee (undetermined at this time).

I got a couple of those domainzero names. I remember the agreement and knew there would be no 2nd year. Well, not knew it, but had a strong feeling...

Yes, as did I, but I was under the impression that I could transfer them to a different registrar as per ICANN regulations.

Actually its not really Enom that's locking them back up -- Domain Zero is just a reseller for Enom - that's their only affiliation. Domain Zero can lock and unlock domains at their own discression - just like any other reseller for Enom.

But Enom can change the locking at anytime as well - since they're the head of it all.

I'm glad I moved my domains away from DomainZero when I did... Not away from Enom (I'm with another reseller of Enom - a friend of mine).

I wrote to:

eHost@NetworkCommerce.com

and CC to:

registrar-info@icann.org; service@enom.com

with request to unlock my domains.

registrar-info@icann.org address is for complaints about registrars. You should write to this address if you have problems with domainzero.com.
