Hi all. I'd like to do a small research here about how do you choose a paid host.

As we know, our Internet speed is growing day & day. And normally users are coming from different countries for a website. So may I ask a question here, that if the speed is most important thing when we choose the hosting plan?

For example, if an asian company offer a hosting plan which have 15G transfer/m, 100M space & Php4/Mysql/Cgi/Cpanel3 & all features for just $4 per month. The only problem is the speed will be slower than US or UK.

Will you choose this plan?

depends on how slow it is... if it's still relatively fast, I might consider it.. I do agree that there needs to be more budget hosts around, but there are only few that I've heard of that have a good reputation.

but I think most people want speed and reliability over a cheap price.

I agree with stu. If it is as slow as surecity was when it was still around, then no way am I paying for it.

For me reliablility is the most important.

No point if your site is on a Dual Pentium III 1Ghz server + 4Gig RAMs + OC192 connection but your site always down.

just my 1+1 cents

I got the points.
Eventhough I'd like to choose

Double PIII 866
1G ECC SDRAM
Double 18.2 G SCSI Harddrive.
& connection speed will be not too bad.

The main idea is I'm in Australia. Whatever the US host or UK host or Asian host is same speed here.
