After a few months of learning about hosting, sorting through the hosts, I have finally my host. http://www.digitalrax.com/

Their hosting so far has been great. I setup an account, and am working on transfering files as we speak. The owner, Keith, has been in the buisness for a long time. He runs a succesful hosting company, but that is mainly for buisnesses. Now he has gone public (finally) and is bringing some great offers. Here are the details:

MB of Storage Space 100
FTP User Accounts 20
Unlimited Email Aliases FREE
24 hr. Control Panel FREE
MS Frontpage Ext. FREE
Perl 5 w/CGI-Bin FREE
MX Records Change FREE
Setup Fees NO
MySQL FREE
20 Email User Accounts
4,000 MB Data Transfer (4 Gigs)
FREE Unlimited Email Forwarding
FREE 24 hr. FTP Access
FREE Web Site Statistics
FREE PHP4 + Zend
24/7 Emergency Email Support
NO Contracts

$7.99 a month

He really is a nice guy, and he has helped me out a ton! the support is great, the hosting is great, and the price is great. Could you ask for anything more?

hopefully im not breaking the rules here...I just checked em out, and I dont think im violating any of em. I dont work for em or anything so I hope this post is legit, if its not, feel free to contact me or delete :-)

Bruce

$7.99 and it's on a RaQ. They don't even give you MySQL though.

ningaming
August 23rd, 2001, 16:53
their having a special and are giving mysql right now......7.99, sorry yeah, my bad....i'll ad that up there

Bruce
August 23rd, 2001, 16:56
I didn't notice the special... just looked at the main page.

ningaming
August 23rd, 2001, 16:59
i didn't add it cuz i dont know how long he will have it as a special....

niv

7.99 is a bad price, aletia can do better than that with twice the space at normal prices (7.95 monthly on the yearly payment plan).

ningaming
August 23rd, 2001, 17:12
well yes, aletia hosting matches that price, but that's a yearly payment, i hate giving that much money to a host for an entire year......who knows what will happen in a year

niv
August 23rd, 2001, 17:15
it's 9.95 monthly. anyway, that's way too much to pay, even with the mySQL, unless he's got support that responds in the blink of an eye.

he is usually on AIM during the entire work day, email support is speedy fast,

again, i didn't join them just for the qaunity, but for quality, I joined em because he helped me more than any other host has helped me in the past. I mean, I was having trouble with a namezero domain (dont get me started on that subject plz) and he literally spent an hour with me helping me with it, now that's support

niv
August 23rd, 2001, 17:23
What are his normal prices? 7.99 sounds like a normal price for that package to me.

ningaming
August 23rd, 2001, 17:29
7.99 is the normal price.....it wll be 7.99 for a long time.....supposedly

anway, once ur in the 8 buck deal, ur in for as long as you want. It's in a price lock....but a lot of hosts offer than anway lol

the PHP support desk was having a few problems, that's why I think it was 6 hours, but im going to test it again this week, to see if I get a better support time

8 hours?!?!?! I see people getting replies on questions for the f5hosting.com support team within a half-an-hour and sometimes within seconds.

ningaming
August 26th, 2001, 17:13

niv

ningaming
August 26th, 2001, 17:55
I will ask tomorrow if they are going to get a Support Forum.....

I would also like to see some manuals.....or something to that extent :D the PHP Support Desk is pretty new, and I've read through all the FAQ questions like twice heh I like learning about all the stuff I got.......................anway, I'll keep posting

ningaming
August 28th, 2001, 23:06
well its 11 AM and I sent a request to the NEW PHP desk, and got an answer within 5 minutes. wow that was speedy fast!

They also gave us a huge manual. It's a really nice help!

Awsome Support today, because I had to transport my forums over to DigitalRax, and they didn't stop helping until everything was fixed. Dang I have taken a lot of their time LOL

really is a great service, so far so good, I'll keep the comments up

I have a feeling there are only a handful of customers right now...

ningaming
August 29th, 2001, 01:53
and................? even if they dont have many customers, the company has been doing professional hosting for buisnesses and companies for a while now.

August 29th, 2001, 17:08
I know Keith...
He has a main hosting/design website(s), and this is just a branch off of his main company....

He has lots of customers - just not through this new hosting site.

digitalrax is not the only host that has great deals at low prices.

ningaming
September 6th, 2001, 17:58
not trying to be rude....but I am posting in the correct thread....am I not? I made this thread....updating it with my comments, not to mention if anyone else is signed up with them, they can share their views.....I am not spamming other threads........so what exactly do you not like me doing here?

I know their not the only hosts with great prices......but I didn't think I should post about valueweb.com in here...or palmversa.com in here because this thread doesn't pertain to them...........right???

Crazy
September 6th, 2001, 18:03
Correct...

ningaming
