'The forums of the moment - from the network of the future!'

Well, hopefully my ASP skill is better than my skill at coming up with slogans ;)

I have made my own forum system (working but lacking the more advanced features yet!) that I am intending to release as a free download. Tell me what you think of them running the forums on my site :)

http://forums.pwnm.net (the website being http://www.pwnm.net)

Thanks! :D

wow!... thats all I have to say.. WOW

if you made that from scratch thats a great board :D and you did a great job

as far as the board goes I have nothing to say you have done a great job on it

I would change your site a bit though the board is squished over at the right side of the screen in my resolution :confused2

Thanks :D

May I ask what screen resolution you are in? I know there is a bit down the left that takes up a little room but I haven't had any problems with it before?

I think it's very nice too, in case you want to know, my resolution is 1024x768.

Keep up the good work.

I would have to agree, the images are cool and the board looks great. I use ASP a bit myself (were you on digitalrice by any chance?).

Well done on the board. I appears OK for me at 1024 x 768.

Once again well done. (Any chance I could get a copy ? ;) )

Very nicely done... Keep it up!

When you're finished, submit it to hotscripts and see what other people think of your script.

WOW! I wasn't expecting quite that response! Thanks everyone!

I did make the board in 1024x768 but it should be fine in anything except 640x480 (it works a bit in that but its not too good!)

(were you on digitalrice by any chance?)
Yes - I was on digitalrice. With all their problems it finnaly seemed time to go and get some paid hosting :)

that I am intending to release as a free download
If everything goes acording to plan  The first public release might be within the next month - although the forums work - the admin features are just about non-existant at the moment! The release will be made here: http://www.pwnewmedia.co.uk/tms/msms/

When you're finished, submit it to hotscripts and see what other people think of your script.
When i finish i am going to submit it to anything I can find ;)

Thank you all once again!

As some people wanted to know about the forum systems release, just thought i'd let you know that it has now been released at http://www.versiforum.com - its only a first version with features missing, but its almost the same as the one running the main forums (in fact most of its better!)

wow! I love that!

Will you release the source code?

Hey, not bad if you coded it by yourself. Not too original, though, and that's always the main thing I look for. :)

I think he has released a version of his popular VersiForum here. I just saw a post on the message boards, and decided to mention it. :)

Will you release the source code?
Yep, as I said in my post and conkermaniac said, you can download it at http://www.versiforum.com

Not too original, though, and that's always the main thing I look for.
This is just the basic system, I'm adding loads of features on. A few of which, as far as i know, no other forum system has - but I'm keeping them a secret until they are done so people dont nick the ideas ;) You'll even be able to run your own forum hosting service (simiar to ezboard) of it when its done!

Features aren't important to me; I mean, I have all the features I need already. It's just that I don't see any original layouts nowadays. Everybody is copying each other, and it's just so sad. There has to be a better way to make a forum than the typical UBB linear style! :)

I'm very impressed with your forums; good luck! :)

pwnm
February 20th, 2002, 19:27
I did originally have them looking a lot different, but in the end I realised why so many forums look the same - that layout works well! Mine didn't! I am still trying to think of new layouts, because the forums are completley template controlled - so I can easily change it (and so can anyone else)

There is a portal already made exactly like that... you just stole it:angry2:

I assume that after making such an accusation, that you are going to elaborate?

pwnm
February 21st, 2002, 15:59
Well considering I made it and that I have never seen one the same, I deffinatley didn't steal it - maybe they did (whoever they are, you havent said!)

I can vouch that he wrote it all his self... I have had regular sneak peeks throught development and must say I have also never seen anything even remotely similar to this in ASP... I think someone needs to balance their argument before kicking off without anything to argue ;)

the forums look very cool, just that its slow...

pwnm
February 22nd, 2002, 04:40
Yes, originally they werent designed to handle that many posts (my forums kind of got bigger than i thought!) but with the new release version I restructured it - I did some tests, and its about 12 times faster! :)

(Plus my host isn't the fastest ever, but hey, they arent to expensive ;))
