how do you check the speed of a website or the server? The line i on suppose to be a oc-3. but its seem a bit slow. to be oc-3

You could ping the server, but a traceroute gives a more accurate result.

ok just did a ping test and got this
"round-trip min/avg/max = 35.1/36.0/37.2 ms"
is that good? or bad? for a oc-3

That's very good. You can't expect 0 ms unless it's localhost. :p

or just.... use jugement...
refresh the page does it load fast or does it go slow?
does it load constantly or stop ever 2 secounds and wait?
it doesnt matter how low the ping is if the pages are loading slowly
yes I know when the page goes slow the ping goes up but the ping rate depends more on speed, it depends on lag and distance too so I dont really like the ping utill :)

well on that site it also test the load speed of a page.. and o m g its 3.6 seconds!!! when it list taht aol, geocities, all those popular site, x10.com, cnet.com all load withing .5 seconds.

You still have to factor in downloading time. A ping can be as little as 32 bytes of data, not an entire page.

Yeah, f2s is good proof of that. Pings good, loads slow.

You could also give that tool that www.hitbox.com offers try. It's free. Basically it checks your site for meta tags, loading speed, spelling, etc...
It should be under the free tools ---> hitbox doctor!
