I have seen this one a couple of sites. It does not work within Netscape but does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks,

Mekhu

It's "disable-able"?! Cool, this is the first time I ever heard of such a thing. I never knew you can disable View -> Source ...

You can't disable viewing page source throught he file ftool bar nor can you stop the page from being cahed. ALl you cna do is make it real annoying by adding no cache tags to your page, having your site in ajavascript made window with no file menu and disabling right clicks.

That's what I thought.

www.guistuff.com

Your telling me that this page isn't just running a script?

Try right clicking to view source and going through the menu bar.

- Mekhu

I was able to view their source code just fine.

You could use a pop-up for your main page then use <body onContextMenu="return false;"> to prevent view source. :p

Mekhu
August 30th, 2001, 14:39
Ok, no one laugh at me ok :P

When I was checking that link I sent I noticed that the view source WAS viewable...

When I started this thread I must have tried to check it while the page was still loading...this means that you can't check the source until it is loaded :P

Sorry :D

LOL good one as far as i know only thing you can block is the rightclick
but you still can use view-->source
so dont worry about it if you dont want peope takeing you JavaScript put them in a .js file

or you can use this to encrypt you hole html file/but every time you want to edit your page you have to decode it and recode it ....

<SCRIPT language="JavaScript1.2">
if (document.all)
document.body.onmousedown=new Function("if (event.button==2)alert('©Copyright 1998-2001 Bennett Web Services')")
</SCRIPT>

when someone visitis ur site and right clicks an alert box pops up and says ©Copyright 1998-2001 Bennett Web Services but you can change this

What if they disable javascript? This is the best so far, roblev posted it a while back:

<body onContextMenu="return false;">

Obviously, you took that from Dynamic Drive.

People can still steal your JavaScript file even if you put it into a .js file - all they would have to do is to try to access http://www.yourpage.com/script.js from the location bar and it will get downloaded.

You can also make a design that is independant of a window but uses browser plugins. A popup without the menu bar.

There's still a way to see the source code of that popup though...

I think we can all agree that your source code is always able to be taken.

I have nothing to worry about anyway, unless you want to steal my messing --- hand coded HTML and my dynamicdrive.com scripts :P

Thanks,

Mekhu

I just learnt a way to enable back the context menu on sites that disable it. It works with the kind that gives you a "FORBIDDEN!" alert box anyway.

Right click on the page. "OK" the alert box. Now right click in the status bar, hold and drag the mouse pointer back onto the page. Let go. There - the context menu is back. :)

or right-click. click ok. Just the press the right click button on your keyboard and voila there you go!

Most of those kind of scripts are easy to bypass by doing the following: right click, press space or enter then immediately right click again. If you don't succeed the first time, try it again, and again. If the menu still doesn't show up, then either your reflexes are just waaaay too slow, or you've got a pretty advanced script there.

Hi everyone,

What do you think of the right click script here:
www.sabenava.be.tf

Can you manage it to view the source of the pages in the frames?

meow
September 3rd, 2001, 12:20
Yeah, I could...there isn't any script. :confused: :confused:

LeX
September 3rd, 2001, 12:26
You have to wait until the redirect kicks up...

LeX
September 3rd, 2001, 12:27
Yes it's possible... all you have to do is right click on the very edge.

[ADD]
Never mind... that's just the source of your frames redirect.

[ADD]2
I bypassed it, and now I'm seeing your source code!! :D (using the right click!)

Parts of your source code just to prove it.....

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">

I just right clicked as usual. Nothing stopped me. (IE5) :confused:

Dusty
September 3rd, 2001, 12:39
I assume it only works in IE since I could see it fine. Hold on a second... nope, it worked in IE too. Does it require a specific version of IE? (so far this script doesn't appear to be very effective...)

LeX
September 3rd, 2001, 12:39
Did you see a Flash airplane?

meow
September 3rd, 2001, 12:48
WTF are you talking about? There are a pop-up script and a browser sniffer. That's it (at a glance).

Dusty
September 3rd, 2001, 12:50
The flash thing on the intro page? Yeah, I saw it, but I didn't wait for it to load since it was taking forever. I clicked the "Skip Intro - Proceed to the Main Page" link and on that main page I could view the source of all the frames and of the frameset.

kennymoens
September 3rd, 2001, 12:50
The script should work in IE5.5 and IE6.

LeX
September 3rd, 2001, 12:51
Well, the disable right click script is on the flash plane page.....

Dusty
September 3rd, 2001, 12:54
I could view the source of it, too (<edit>the page with the flash on it, not the flash itself</edit>).

This is a really great script you've got there, Kenny ;)

LeX
September 3rd, 2001, 12:56
Where did you get the script? http://www.dynamicdrive.com??

By using right click? Did you see what I saw? I posted a preview on the previous page...

The script is a highly modifyed version of realmenu (found on DynamicDrive).

LeX, can you tell me how you managed to view the source in IE5.5 or IE6. (not Netscape or Opera or anything else)

I kept right clicking on blank areas of your page real fast and the menu just popped up.
