Do you advertise? Do you know how to use META keywords to your advantage? Do you cheat google by placing 10000 words on the bottom of your page? ;)

I always found that I got my best traffic just from finding a forum, chatroom, etc that relates to your website subject and then share your URL with them...
Also, make sure you have proper meta tags, and also goto www.ineedhits.com and use their free search engine submission tool.

Repeat words A LOT OF TIMES, and add words that describe other sites but not yours ;)

I have submitted my site to search engines(300 at least) but the only one I'm getting hits from is exite and google by using fake words , none are targeted, I get an average of 1200 hits a MONTH:( Do you know a service that can provide hits w/o paying 4 it?

Use a banner exchange like 1for1.com (v3exchange.com)

This evil trick is called meta-stacking, I don't do it anymore, but it did work when I did do it, I think I'll go back to doing it.
