blogger archive template

i have this question:

is the archive template the template with the archive LINKS on it or the layout for all the blogentry's that are archived?

i mean, do you have to make it the same as your main blog layout? or something else with the archive links on it?

does the archive template has to be a page like this one above?
or do you have to copy and paste the same code from the main blog page?
