how do you make those smooth enges instead of the sharp corners. I know they are jpg's but how do you make them so smooth and the exact size?

I don't have the latest version, but I'd assume it's the same. To draw with smooth edges (on lines, circles, other shapes, etc.) make sure the image is at 16 million colors then select antialias from the control window. After you're done you can reduce it to 256 colors and save it as a GIF or whatever you want.
As to the second part of you question, I don't think I understand what you're asking for when you say "exact size". Make what exactly what size? The image itself? That doesn't have anything to do with whether it's antialiased or not...

This is a generic solution. Just select an area which is jagged. And apply the blur tool to that area. I think there is a smooth tool also, not sure about it.
