For those of you who don't know, there is a popular, free program for Windows called AutoHotkey. It can be used to remap keys, create shortcut key combinations, and run keyboard and mouse-related scripts (thus automating tasks). You can even turn AHK scripts into .exe files for distribution.
There is a Linux project that replicates some of the functionality, but not much (called Iron AHK / AHK Iron).
It has saved me multiple hours of work and made things like switching programs and playing games much easier.
