    help with paypal (experienced users?)

I'm recently selling something with ebay, and I've heard some paypal scam recently. I don't remember the exact wording but it was something like making the payment, receiving the items then somehow retract the payment in paypal.

I thought paypal was pretty secure and something like this won't happen? but apparently it is possible. I heard of a method of preventing this, that involves somehow confirming your buyer has a verified account. does anyone know? I need help pretty urgently..

I'm really concerned because the highest bidder of my recent auction is a very suspectible guy.. he has a name of "palofpaypal" on ebay, a hotmail account (with similar username) registered, and his account is less than 30 days, and he has no feedback. but I can't choose to not sell my item to him because he is the highest bidder.

Like ebay, paypal has its own verrificaiton system. Retracting payment is always possible but highly unlikely and very hard if you are selling from a CONFIRMED accoutn a CONFIRMED account. When this suer sends you payment via paypal, paypal will tell you his status, confirmed or not. If he is not confirmed simply rject the payment and inform him that he does not meet your guideless for payment exception. Ebay has a long list of spescial rules for payment issues and questionable payment.

    Cool Hi Agum,

Can you provide a little more detail on this issue? I would like to assist/give guidance if possible.

Do you have anything signed? If there is no signature, most banks will gladly issue you a chargeback. Paypal can't stop this from happening.

Does anyone know if chargebacks are on the rise?

I bought something from ebay, sent my money order and never got my item. The seller swears up and down that he sent it. I learned never to use a money order again. It was not that big, so it was not a major loss.
