Unix was developed in the early 1970's for use in mainframes. Today there are hundreds of variations and many of them will run a on pc, just like linux.

PC is the only one so far. Linux is both similar and not similar to DOS. Some versions of Linux come with GUI or graphical user interfaces, which are quite similar to a windows desktop. I recommend it.

Unix doesn't just run on PCs. PCs are personal computers. In the past there were people that all used terminals to connect to one computer (sharing the CPU and resources) -- mainframes. Servers also use UNIX..... UNIX is a type of operating system.
