Cgi Updating .htpasswd File

Hello,
I am looking for a cgi script that will allow me to
have a sign up page and updates the .htaccess file
without me having to do this. Would any one know of
a free script that allows these capabilities. I know
how to make .htaccess files just not a cgi script
that updates the .htpasswd
