A lot of people do need our help in Somalia, and the only way we can help them is to get rid of the feudalistic ties first.
Somalia is a cell of Al Qaeda, I believe.

I can´t believe those idiot warlords in Somalia want the US to come back in. Last time that happened, the crazy idiot leader called Adid, caused a fire fight to break out between his forces and American units there. There is no way in hell the US is going to send forces in there just because these warlords ask. I do however believe that the US will pound the hell out of them if there are any terrorists there, which I believe there are.
And what is the big deal about Somalia anyways? The US lost 18 or 19 men, a few helicopters, some transports, and the Somalis lost over 500 armed men (some say even a 1,000. These armed men were hiding behind women and children thus causing additonal death).
Your feedback on Somalia?

The US already tried that and lost 18 or 19 men as a result.

On a similar note Spain was being taken over by Moroccans, until we kicked them out because they didn´t have proper documents.Originally posted by Phrozen

You don't mean to say America actually had the balls once to send in a few of it's own people!?

1989-1994. The US had thousands of troops there who were on a humanitarian mission which turned into a full-fledge gun battle. Shall I provide proof?Originally posted by Toefur

doesn't anyone have access to unbiased information?
There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking the root.
read that quote, and think... what are we doing? striking the root, or hacking branches?
I think hacking the branches. The evil of terrorism, and political unrest can easily be solved by one thing: food.

The US is striking the roots. And food is being delievered in large amounts to Afghanistan. That will thusly end terrorism there.Originally posted by Filòs

But Somalia is a different story... last time the US tried to send food there, it turned into a gunbattle.
That is true, but it is too late.
Food would have worked better as a preventative measure than as a follow up to war.
