    Okay.. here's the deal.. LoL...

Bout 6 months ago I formated my hard drive (20.4gb) and created 5 partitions.. drives C : (win98), D office 2k), E internet junk), F : (blank) and G : (Mp3s).. well it's time for my lucky format because I've noticed Windows acting weird and I've tried to fix it, but I guess a nice format would be a good idea... here is my question..

    1. Can I format JUST drive C:, reinstall Windows 98 on drive C: and keep my remaining partitions WITH all the information on them? (There is nothing on drive C: except windows)

    2. After Windows has been reinstalled, do I have to reinstall Office 2k on drive D: or were all the important files (dlls and stuff) installed to drive D:?

    Thanks!

    -Robert

    You can just format C:

    at the MS prompt type

    format C:

and it will only format your C drive

You may have to re-install Office though... since the DLLs wont be there in your registry/windows directory.

Or you can do a smart install of Windows and just reboot your computer with the win98 disk in...without reformating your hard drive... That will usually fix things...

But if you have low cpu resources and its slow, you'll probably need to reformat your hard drive.. .that will help out a lot!

    Hope I could help some...

If you have any questions...feel free to ask....

The DOS prompt: format c: /s is a little safer (not really though)
Reinstalling Office 2000 is a must. So, backing up your documents and formatting d: may boost Office performance a little.

Nope.. you just partition it.. after you format, you run FDISK and create your partitions and tell it how much space to give each drive.

Partition Magic and System Commander can partition without formatting and losing your data. So I would recommend them. However, they cost about $50 whereas FDISK is free.

Yeah, well, backing up 17GBs of data is no fun ::writes "pickup partition magic" on todo list::
