It depends. Are there any downloads on the site and are there any big scripts like forums? If its just mostly plain html pages it should be enough.

What I know is that only a small number of sites goes over the 2GB. So 4GB are enough for a good site with many visitors.

There should be a site with a script that calculates how much bandwidth you could possibly use.

If you don't have downloads, it should be enough.

    4GB on 10kb pages =400,000 views a month.

And forums might hog up quite a lot of that 4 GB of bandwidth, if you have enough posts/page views. Especially if you're using one of the newer versions of board scripts (like phpBB 2, Ikonboard, YaBB, etc.).

For plain HTML text sites with no download 4GB can get around maybe 1700 uniques per day.

You shouldn't buy a plan based on what you'll need, as if that were the case you'd have to be psychic and sign up for a clustered, load-balanced multi-server solution. Buy a package based on what you need now, plus some. Be sure that your host offers easy upgrade plans and gives you the option to grown.

I have one site, gets 200-350 uniques a day, and also has a pretty active message board (a few hundred posts a day), and it only uses about 3-4 gig per month.
