I don't use any on this box, but AVG has been great from my experience.
I've been using the one we sell at work, called Freedom. But it's ubber ----.
Antivirus and firewall ---- up everytime you do msconfig.
On top of that, say you ran the antivir and it found 6 viruses, it told you it'll clean it after rebooting. So you reboot, and it does nothing. You scan again, get those 6 viruses again and same message that it'll clean them after rebooting. As you guessed, rebooting again did nothing.
This product is laughable, and people pay 10 bucks per months for that crap...
Next thing I'v tried Is Computer Associates ezAntivirus. I guess it was a little too "EZ". The only buttons it has it SCAN and STOP. basically. I did a scan twice and it found nothing, even though my taskmgr was full of the same process eating up memory. and a google search for the name of the .exe revealed its a virus known and detected by ezAntivirus. Ok, still not good. Uninstalled.
I've just finished installing F-Secure on my home pc. (Trying to install the server version couple days ago on my vps resulted in install crashing. Not too impressed). So I'm doing a full system scan right now on my pc. So far 2 viruses found. Looks good. Hopefully it's able to actually do something with them, and not only tell me I have viruses like Freedom did, haha.
And if that fails, I guess I'll have no choise but to go with the big bloated memory hogging guys like McAfee, TrendMicro and Symantec. (in that respective order)
So what antivirus do You use?

AVG has never let me down, to this day. Even when Norton DID let me down, AVG saved the day.
I have to agree with everyone else on here AVG is a great program.
I resell AVG as it was the product I had least issues with. I've had no end of issues with Norton, not yet had a PC back with AVG.
Remember to read the license on AVG Free, it's for single home use only PC's, managing your web business may well violate the license
The network version is excellent, the PC's routinely talk back to a shared database to record scan results and collect instructions, I wrote a short shell script to add an "Update Now" record to the database and I can set the ball rolling for an additional update for the remote office I support in between the usual scheduled updates.
AVG. Does a better job than McAffee + Norton put together.

I find using McAfee is good for on access, but, AVG for scanning, weird eh?

I use Symantec. It has never let me down. Always proves to run great and does not bog down my computer. I did use AVG for some time on an older computer so you might wanna try that if Symantec doesn't work for you.
F-secure went in the recycle bin also...
couldnt get rid of that virus
installed avg, scanned, scan report said 1 virus deleted, scanned again, clean
