Of course. Your thinking co-location. But it is normally more expensive than just renting a server since you only want to put in one. I would figure the costs for you to build a server, and then co-locate it on a connection you want, then come here and asks for some quotes on a server of the same type. Since hosts like us buy servers in bulk, I think you'll find we can get you better prices than co-location can. (When i say we I mean all of FWS, no just my company).

EDIT: I know Host-Frog does Colocation. Maby Craig (hosting Department) and I believe RTG and Dlerox do as well. Thats all I can come up with off the top of my head.

I think you mean delerox, and yes we do, just not publically on the site. There's many companies so just browse for the best bandwidth providers you can get.

beacuse it would be a normal desktop machine with linux on it (ill need to buy cpanel but thats not a prob) if you know datacenters in montreal to do this please tell me and the machine is already build it just needs power and a connection and a linux distro

    Currently the server spec are

    Atlon Xp 2000+
    256mb of ram
    60gb of space
    (might add a 80gb)
    should i remove sound card?

Yeah you might as well remove sound. If I am thinking right..it might be easier to install the OS at your house rather than have a DC do it. Depends on your knowledge of Linux though.

to be honest if you plan to colocate that type of machine and lease cpanel it will be far cheaper to just go dedicated. the cpanel license alone is $49/mo for colo clients, and that doesnt even include rackspace and bandwidth for a tower case

the Machine you are looking to colocate including cpanel can be had in a dedicated server for $90/mo at quite a few places

nah, dedicated is much more economical on a lower end machine. If you plan to coloate something like a dual xeon or high end server it is generally cheaper monthly to do it that way
