I would say it all depends on what it takes to be profitable from server costs, advertising, billing system, etc. It's different for every host.

If i could profit enough from it would you say $200/yr ($16.66/mo) would be considered a great price?
That's not exactly consistent.7.5gb storage
600gb traffic/mo
(...)
- 75000 MB. Web Space
- 600 GB Transfer
I agree with Lipsofgrace. These days there are markets where 600Gb go for $10, as crazy as that might be. It doesn't mean you must follow suit.
EDIT: My post suddenly gained a funny note.![]()

If you go with a quality host, they will offer you a VPS or a dedicated server![]()

For a very well established host and if I even needed those specs, I would pay $50 a month.
I'd double that to $100 to $150/mo.. 600GB is alot of bandwidth. If a host wasn't overselling, that means 2mb of continuous streaming. Good bandwidth costs between $30 to $50 per mb per month. That means around $60 to $100 per month just in bandwidth costs.Originally Posted by Jan

One question, why 12GB ram? is this a 32bit system? 12GB RAM on a 32 bit system is going to be slow. Remember 32 bit systems aren't designed for over 4GB of ram.. Software emulation (called PAE) is used to address higher quantities of RAM.Originally Posted by webcougar
We typically use Dual Opteron SCSI servers, but limit RAM to 4GB on shared servers.. Allows us to host a decent number of websites leaving around 1GB to 512MB of ram free

I'm with you on that, though Jan might have been just joking.I'd double that to $100 to $150/mo.. 600GB is alot of bandwidth.![]()
I would go with Dedicated server..... I had a similar server requirement and paying $199/month.... Though I needed availability and fast bandwidth. In my case I needed to make sure it was up all the time and wanted a reputable company. If you are not running a commercial app that is time sensitive then you can probably get something for less. I would not recommend VPS for something this resource intensive. IMHO
Online Rack
Muti Domain Web Hosting Windows & Linux
Firewalled, Anti-DDos, Reliable, Fast, Premium service
All of our servers are hosted at Rack Space & NaviSite Data Centers in USA
With that amount of bandwidth, it may be useful to up the amount of disk space. Generally, someone who needs that large of transfer will also need a ton of space for the files!
Just a thought.
I believe you got this plan from www.servage.net if im not mistaken, if your planning on having a reseller account then i would change the plans a bit more so people don't compare you with them as they charge £5.25/$7.75 per month for 75gb space, 1110gb bandwidth.
With the amount of space and bw they offer you could get a lot more plans if you cut them down, i.e
5gb space
50gb bandwidth
$5 per month
you could target a much wider range of customers with smaller plans instead of using most of your space/bw on a few customers. There would be a much larger profit involved with smaller packages.
Customers who want higher end spec plans usually will use what they pay for, therefor could cause you problems if all of them max your resources.
