    question before i signup

    Hi,
This is the first time im gonna sign-up for paid hosting so I have a kinda silly question. I wanna get a VPS to host around 6 sites. So, during my initial research I visited the website of a renown provider (starts with i, donno if i should use the name). One of the 6 sites to be hosted is a friends, which would run only torrentflux on it. Other 5 would be proper-medium-traffic websites. My point is, I asked their tech and sales support if it were ok to run torrentflux on the server, and without verifiying or anything (which was the case with two before this one, both said no) they said sure.
I searched the forum, and the replies to people who asked for tf hosting was a flat no, so im surprised they said yes. Would it be genuine or would they just suspend the account after signing up and a month odd goes by?

My guess would be that you will find it fairly hard to get a host that will allow torrent hosting/downloads.

The best you can do is to call them and to ask this question. I can suggest you to do the same with 2 more companies and then to decide which one to choose.

I have sorted this out for him, I think! It stated in the host's TOS that the user was not permitted to host any torrents or torrent related software.

I don't understand why they would say it was allowed!

Hmm, just wonering, suppose you sign up with such a host for say a year and 3 weeks into the deal, they suspend your account. Can you get your money back. Say only 1 out of 3 accounts are suspended (on a vps they allow more than 1 domain to be hosted).

Depending on the reason why your account has been suspended, some circumstances you wont be able to get any money back, as you have broken their TOS, where as other companies will work with you to sort the problem out.

Check their TOS, it will usually say in there how you are entitled to refund.

your safest bet with new hosting companies is to pay monthly
