    Problems with IOFM.NET free webspace

I have been using free webspace on IOFM.NET for over three years now without problem. The only catch they have is you have to use their own dial up ISP connection in order to upload files.

But I now have problems. It first started 3 or 4 weeks ago when I tried to upload some files, but just kept getting a "disk full" error. Then 2 days later my website dissapeared. When I try and connect now I get "can't resolve host name"

I have tried their helpline number 0870 224 3494 without any luck. I have tried about 4 times now. It is clear that this number is not actually IOFM.NET themselves, rather a webspace provider they subcontract. Each time they agree the website is not working, and say they will look into it and call me back. They never do.

    So some questions:

Is anyone still successfully using free webspace on IOFM.NET?

Does anyone else have a similar problem to me? and if so have you been able to resolve it?

Does anyone know the name of the company that actually hosts IOFM.NET's free web space or have an alternative telephone number (preferably not 0870)?

I have partly answered my own problem.

Firstly I have been doing some looking around and found lots of websites using IOFM.NET webspace still working.

So I tried signing up again with a slightly different user name. Success. I now have my website uploaded and working again. Trouble is of course new user name = new website URL, so although this works it is not an ideal solution, but it's better than nothing.

I still want to find out why it stopped working. My old user name still works for dial up ISP access, and email, it's just the webspace that doesn't work any more. Was my account suspended? did I breach the T&C? I don't know, but you would have thought if that was the case they would let me know.

Trouble is I can't get any response from IOFM.NET. If you try their "technical helpline" it is in fact a company called Enta Net who they must subcontract their hosting to. I have tried 4 times, and each time they agree my website is not working, but can't do anything. They say they will look into it and phone me, but never do.

I have tried submitting a request to IOFM.NET using the online form, but three requests now have gone unanswered.

I guess it's a question of you are getting something for free, so don't expect any support when it goes wrong?

Anyone know a propper contact email, phone or snail mail address for IOFM.NET so I can try and get my original account restored?

Just a quick follow up to this. Still not made any progress in finding out why the old account dissapeared, but the new one seems to work okay.

The bizare thing is the email address associated with the old user name still works, but I can't get the email address for the new one to work at all. Something really strange is going one here. Never ming, I don't use their email servers anyway, I just wanted some web space.

What I have learned from this is when you sign up for something that is free, don't expect any support or even any communication with them when it goes wrong. Just be thankfull for ot working when it does, and be prepared to move your site to a new host when things go wrong.

I take it from the fact virtually nobody has repplied to this thread that very few people on here use iofm.net
