I think his punishment was out of line and it should be reduced. He should be freed based on time already served.
P.S. I changed your thread title to something more appropriate.
I apologize for the crude title, but this has been all over the news recently, and I think it's just ridiculous. 10 Years?! I mean, sure, she was 15 and he was 17, but I've seen plenty worse.

Ouch!
2 years age difference is NOT a lot.
Bad call by the judge.
That's stupid.. There should be a law saying it's ok if theres less then 4 years inbetween IMO
Well, a 16 and a 12 y/o is a bit wierd.
Age of consent in Canada is 14, and the other partner must be under 18. So that's 4 year difference.
Thats pretty out of line if you ask me, I have been following this in the news for a bit now. I feel very bad for this guy even after what he did.
We have people who do a lot worse and rarely, if ever serve time like this.

Isn't this the guy that was gonna be a pretty decent college football player until he got screwed by the court?
I think he used to guard Calvin Johnson in high school.
This is pretty old... It's been all over the news lately?

Sex @ 14 is a disgrace.
Tooooo many teens are getting pregnant, I worry like hell for my own, the last thing I want for her is a baby in her teens but shes only 6 at the moment so I have many worry free years.
Safe sex etc should definitely be taught more in schools; in Sweden (or somwhere similar, i forget exactly), they have the easiest process for abortion, and most Swedes are for abortion, yet they have one of the lowest abortion rates. Simply because they're educated so well.
Yes and no, its down to each parent to educate thier child in a social sense, a school is there to educate them in an academic sense - so they are ready for the world of work. While it's a topic that warrants discussion in a school environment, the first conversations should be between parent and child.
@14 you're still very much a child, it should not be acceptable for a person that young to consent to anything at all, least of all sex.
