    Your shots...

Now I know this topic is currently being talked about a lot in 'The Longest Thread Ever' - and this may sound like repetition for repetition's sake.

However, I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread specifically for peoples photos - where they can show others shots they have taken: whether it be in your garden or on holiday. and get feedback for it. (comments & suggestions - you know how it works ). Or of course they can just chat about the more unusual or hilarious entries.

Anyway, I'll go first (these photos are taken from our holiday in Africa last year):

http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/e...t=644_4447.jpg - This is Probably my best photo to date, as i actually managed to get the zoom right on my Dad's camera - though he had this amazing image stabilising lense, so i won't take all the credit.
http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/e...t=644_4415.jpg - The qualityof this Photo isnt great, and i messed with the exposure quite by mistake - but i liked the outcome as a rare action shot.
http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/e...t=642_4299.jpg - This is just a shot of victoria falls in high water (from the side) taken with my own camera. Note i couldnt actually use the camera any closer to the falls as the spray drenched us through from 100 meters back at least
http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/e...639_3974_2.jpg - I dont know what this plant is - I only shot it becuase it seemed wacky. The guide told me it was some relation of the marajuana plant (note: Ive never seen the real thing), but i suspect he was having a poor english guy on

    -----------

All except the 3rd image were shot with my Dad's Canon 350 D and the image stabiliser lense - I will come back and edit with the specs later.

These photos are by no means brilliant, and infact the rest of my dabblings are hardly worth showing you. But sometimes its hard to get bad shots with such beautiful scenery as in Zambia ( First the falls then the Luangua Game reserve if anyones interested).

http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/e...t=644_4447.jpg is really nice, good shot. I've wanted to take one of birds, and now I have a telephoto lens, I probably can. All those pictures you've shown are pretty good, good job.

You've seen all mine, until I upload some more here's what I have. Be nice, I only got my camera on Tuesday. Been using the kit lens, only got new lenses today, which my Dad gave me. I use a Canon EOS 350D, and these are all taken with a 18-55mm lens.

That's a pretty nice picture Colin You should try lowering the Aperture so the background is slightly more blurred, otherwise, that's great! What did you use to shoot it? (No gun jokes, please).

    Kodak v803.

Don't know what aperture is. Sounds like a side effect.

Aperture is the hole in the shutter, that defines the amount of light let in. For example, when I suggested with a large aperture, or a low f-spot, that would increase the amount of light let in and decrease the depth of field, or decrease the range of acceptable focus, blurring the background. Mm. I learnt all this when I got my camera.

Well... moving on from all the techno speak (mainly because i dont understand it ). Thats a cool photo colin - you mind telling me what plant it is.

Oh, and according to my Dad the lense is (something like) 50-300 (i dunno if that even exists, but is a pretty big lense, ill try and stick a shot of it on here). And it has an Image Stabiliser which apparently means you can get better shots in low light conditions (like dawn and dusk - which was quite important in africa as most of the gamedrives are in the early morning or late afternoon)

I walked out of my house this afternoon and thought I was going to a thread discussing what kind of drinks (shots) we like. Now I can see I'm in the wrong place. I'll let you folks get back to your discussion.

oh god - here comes the 'I've got a bigger lense than you '

    anyway...

I found a couple on my camera, of Hongkong when i was staying with a friend. Its an amazing place - really recommend it.

http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/e...t=658_5897.jpg - HSBC headquaters (just incase those discreet Neon signs left you in any doubt.

http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/e...t=658_5875.jpg - Not a great shot, but gives you a decent impression of HongKong.

I had some other snaps of the harbour etc..., but the smog is so bad its hardly worth it.

    (Back to Africa)
http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/e...t=644_4441.jpg - Now this shot isnt mine, its my dad's. But im putting it up here, because it has to be my favourite shot of his (or one of them). (This monkey was just sitting on a Game guards car outside the reserve)

    EDIT:
@UT: sorry about that mate - i think thats already been done
@Kurt: You should really have the Gnome as your avatar - I sorta imagine a resemblance
