What OS? What Version? What Service Pack?
    Have you tried reinstalling/restoring drivers?

Use System restore to a point before you uninstalled VMWare. That should correct the issue.

That's an odd problem. Most keyboards do not require drivers to work, not on as a keyboard anyway, maybe for their extra buttons ....

My suggestion would be to remove the drivers for any HID ( mouse/keyboard ) in your device manager using the mouse ( remove mouse driver too, but do it last ), reboot the computer, it should install system default drivers for your input devices.

Did you try shoving the keyboard in the socket? Perhaps you bent the pins. I had someone do that to one of my Eurodesk mixers and I wasn't terribly happy.

If your using the 'onscreen keyboard' sounds like your using XP Tablet Edition, if that's the case don't use VMWare with it - since the tablet edition doesn't need physical hardware for some basic IO devices (uses virtuals like the keyboard/touchscreen) it can foul up royally.

If you must, plug everything you can in, and hopefully on the docking station too.
