    Question Adult Content = Safe?

    Hello,

Do you think it is safe for me to allow members to host adult content in their site?

Take http://www.anww.org/ as an example (they're just making a directory and link videos from YouTube), do you think such site is acceptable? Will that bring down the host's reputation?

My host is a free host and the server is located in US.

    Thanks.

I would be carefull with it as a free host. It is so hard to regulate a free host with adult websites, so you may be better to stay clear.

I was going to say that for a paid webhost, it would be less strict and as long as it is legal content, then sure -- but with a free host, there are so many registrations that it would be hard to monitor and find out if it is legal content or not.

For the sake of the free webhost, I would stay clear.

Ok then, I think I'll not allow those kind of sites.

Well of course there is always that, but the threat is always there with any type of hosting business.

We host loads of adult accounts, we have also banned loads of adult accounts for abusing the CPU or illegal content.
Since I have staff who help me for nothing, I dont mind (They do alot of the searching/removing.).. Its really up to you. If you have resorces to monitor that sorta thing why not?
I allow it since I only ever go with server providers that allow it and my morals stand firm on adult content being just like any other legal content on the internet.

I always took the policy of banning every one I saw. The main problem is what it attracts and the reputation you get. Expect illegal porn/warez turning up if you do allow porn. Also think about it, it'll be copyright content - if it wasn't they wouldn't need free hosting. If it's not copyright it might be amateur - and then there is a huge problem surrounding verifying the age of participants and if they consented.

If they smile they consent ,

I dont view hosting porn to be anything like you said..
People are more likley (From my experiences) to make a warez software forum than make a warez porn forum..

I think that many things depend on the DC. How do they react on the abuses etc. I think that it is very important factor you shouldn'r forget about.

If you have adult-friendly ads on user pages, hosting adult sites could be quite lucrative!

As long as you have an effective TOS you should be fine.
