Thread: MK Portal

    MK Portal

    Hmm,
anyone use this? What is this? It looks pretty popular, its been around since the early days of phpBB 2.0's
Back then, I had used this as a part of phpBB, not necessarily byitself, now i've looked at it, and it claims to be a CMS, anyone using it? how is it?

i've sniffed it and I've decided its a foreign company making this script? The language barrier can hurt but anyone using it?

    Code:
    http://www.mkportal.it/

Fnixws, since you use it, may i ask, is MKPortal fast? Can you create multiple pages? Is it SEO friendly urls? Must you use phpBB to use MKPortal? Is it just a portal or a complete CMS?

I ask because on the site there is no features section, and documentation is filled with odd questions regarding it..

Yeh, u can use most forums. Ive had issues with SMF (logins) and MyBB (Cookies) when using MKP. MyBB was easy enough to fix, but SMF i ended up removing. Works with VB and AEF and probly a few others too.

Seems relitivly SEO friendly, about the same as other CMSs, atleast the newer version seems to be, the old one lacked a littel there.

Its a Portal and CMS in one i guess. You can use it without a forum if you mess around with it. I think some1 may have make a public hack to do it too. So in that respect, it can be a stand alone CMS, but generally most sites will have a forum anyway.

Support via the forum can be slow and everyone assumes your a pro already. All the good mods are in Italian or Spanish so support for them is a -----. But its relitivly easy to mod anyway

MicGoogle, I see they have already answered your questions, they are very fast with support. He answered yours in about 15 mintues, which is about average for them.

heymrdj, MKPortal is ok, but it has too much of a,,,,"Generic" look and feel to it. MemHT has a mor eclean, professional look to it and is just all around a better script. If you give MemHT a try I'm sure you will be more satisfied with it than MKPortal.

And no, I am not in any way affiliated with MemHT, I am just a faithfull user!

Actually your right about the look. Its relitivly hard to mod compared to other CMS and is a bit "old school". As in, most sites look like a PHPNuke site or an older CMS.

MemHT is quite a nice looking portal. I'm still playing with it but I have to say it's quite good. I am disappointed with the forum softwares, I'd rather have a more flexible MyBB/SMF/PHPBB forum personally. I really like the templating system though. Will play with it more.
