Nah, I measured exactly 6 cups of water. Relatively new pot ... purchased over the summer.

Yeah I've noticed that too when I boil water.
If you put salt in it, it raises the boiling point - so only salt once its boiling.

I wasn't looking at it. I was in another room, checking every 10 or so minutes. Today it actually took around 30 minutes to boil.
