Do you have a firewall blocking all ports except for the default ones? If so, then the scripts i would be using on said server won't work and is a deal-breaker for me.
I was curious about whether or not u allow outgoing connections. For example, I have an internet radio station that is hosted with multiple online shoutcast servers (example link: free.freeshoutcast.com:10904). I need to be able to connect to these servers via a php fsockopen script. Is there a firewall blocking all ports except for the default ones? If u do have a firewall then its a deal-breaker for me.

fsockopen is disabled. I do have a firewall preventing that access.
Yes, and not all ports are the default ones. But, default are open and some other ports for certain people have been opened. Seems like you need to find a new host. Plus, we do not allow shoutcast and freeshoutcast.com has been marked as an illegal host (they allow streaming of illegal content).

How can it be considered illegal when you can use music from unlicensed or local bands? They even have sites that let you pay for a license that allows you to play licensed music.
Simple, The person streaming the music does not own the songs. Regardless of whether a band is signed with a record label, the songs they originally play (as in not covers), are their own creation. For sites that have you pay for a license to play licensed music sounds awfully fishy. They may pay to be allowed to stream certain music, but recoup by allowing others to stream w/o the artists/labels consent?

I tell it like it is, plain and simple.
Somebody needs to do some research on ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and Sound Exchange licenses for web-casting before they call BS without knowing the facts.

Mate, I'm not talking about which music can be streamed legally. I'm talking about what I allow to be hosted. There is a difference. Shoutcast puts a burden on my bandwidth providers.
