What is cloud, shared and Dedicated hosting?

The main difference between cloud hosting and dedicated hosting is the cost effectiveness involved. In case of dedicated server hosting, you get access to a wide range of resources and you also have to pay for all of them whether or not you use them. However in case of cloud hosting, you have the access to various resources but you only have to pay for the resources that you have used.

For shared hosting:
Web hosting is a service that allows you to upload your website in a web server and show it to your target audience 24/7 without having your personal computer powered on.
Those servers are powerfull machines with a good amount of disk space and traffic. That disk space and traffic is rented to a fair amount of customers who want to create and publish their personal or even business website.

Web Hosting can be splitted in two categories.
1)Basic Hosting
2)Business Hosting

Cloud hosting is the latest trend of hosting plan where the hosting resources are scalable and flexible. The payment method is normally you pay what you use.

Shared hosting is most common hosting plan where normally individuals or small businesses will purchase the hosting plan to host their personal or business website. The plan allow only moderate to low traffic of websites.

Dedicated hosting is a plan where a corporate sign up a dedicated server to host only their website, corporate softwares, systems, database and so on.

Shared Hosting is a system whose resources are being shared by multiple web sites on the same server, same location and on the same ip address

Dedicated server is a single computer in a network reserved for serving the needs of the network. For example, some networks require that one computer be set aside to manage communications between all the other computers.

Cloud Hosting is the web hosting services delivered as a service rather than a product over the Internet. With cloud hosting, you now fully focus on your website and eCommerce profits instead of your hardware and the huge cost in upgrading.

Very simply, shared hosting uses resources shared among many users, dedicated hosting uses a set amount of resources dedicated to a single user, and cloud hosting uses dedicated resources that are freely expandable.

Cloud- You can scale up the resources easily and you pay for what you use.
Shared- The resources are shared with other users.
Dedicated- The resources are entirely dedicated to you. Would be an overkill if you are just starting off.

I guess he is just curious about the features of web hosting packages that he asked.
But in my view as compare to shared hosting which is low cost package but has multiple accounts on single server and dedicated hosting which gives full access to user but has to spend more money, cloud hosting is better option.
You can have features like dedicated servers with low cost cloud hosting.
Additionally there are more features like scalability , high availability that you will get with the cloud hosting.
