    .pirate domains?

    Hello guys,

On an other forum I bumbt into a new domain extension .PIRATE ...

    http://dotpirate.me/

As various governments around the world struggle to decide who owns the internet and who get's to have control over your domain name... the question is "Do you trust the United States government?" Do you trust them to not seize your domain? What about other governments?
    I mean what the ....

I doubt this extension will be online for long, its free tho.

It doesn't use traditional DNS, it uses OpenNIC, so as long as people set their DNS up for it, they can view custom TLDs - so its not that shocking it exists. Plus it's a TLD, domains are taken offline (like google.com) as apposed to the TLD itself (.com)

Why would anyone want .Pirate extension at the end of domain instead of .com or .net etc ?

Seeing as the .pirate domains are free, if somebody has a dynamic ip address they can say something like this:
Hey, I have a minecraft server at blahblahblah.pirate and unlike a dynamic ip address the .pirate domain is always the same. In otherwords, pretty similar to how http://www.no-ip.com/ works.
