    httpd.exe & mysqld.exe ?

    Hello,

Since a couple of days it takes for ever to shut down one of my PC's.
After using CTRL+ALT+DEL I see that httpd.exe and mysqld.exe are running.
That are Apache and Mysql from XAMP that is installed on that PC (Windows XP Home SP2).

This is an offline PC (no internet connection) which I use to test and write php scripts.
But those files shouldn't be running because I didn't start XAMP, how can I prevent them from running?

    Check they aren't automatically starting.

    msconfig - startup.

I have checked that and they are not on that list.
I have no idea why they boot at all

If they do not appear in the list i would be worried something is hiding/locking them. make sure you do a full scan with up to date AV. Are you able to uninstall them?

I removed XAMPP and installed WAMP instead, problem solved.
