    spam emails like crazy!

I have several business accounts, but the one I use for my parent company, is getting upwards of like 30 to 40 spam a day. I used to constantly opt out of their emails, but that is about as good of working as me hitting my head with a break and seeing which one breaks first.

I have spam assassin installed, but that is a joke too.

Is there any software out there that can stop these useless, annoying emails from getting through. I want something that will kill them in the tracks, and not be a pest to people I want to receive emails from and making them go through countless verification processes.

Spam Assassin works great!! Not sure how you have it configured, but I hardly get any spam at all with it configured properly. Get maybe 2 pieces of spam a day at the most, and my email address is plastered everywhere on the Internet.

I have it via cpanel. it just gives me an option for enabling it and then for a white and black list or something like that. beyond that I have no options.

Spam assassin coupled with Postgrey for Grey-listing has proven effective for me for some time, although I have noticed a recent change in spam behavior that is letting more than usual slip through.

Usually the spam that gets past the greylisting gets caught by spamassassin.

Also, you should use a dnsbl on your mail server. Not sure if Cpanel does that by default, but you should at least have droneBL if not sorbs.

You don't have "Filters" and "Configure Spam Assassin" in cPanel? You should be able to adjust the scores and everything else in there. It might just be a matter of increasing the score.

I dont, but no idea what to put.

I want to be careful, as I dont want genuine emails to be deleted, just all the crap.

Strange that you wouldn't have those options. Here is what they look like in our clients' control panels:

You simply experiment with the score until you find a nice medium with the spam and legitimate emails, and then you set a rule to delete the spam.

I meant to say that I do have those options. Dont know why I typed "dont" for.

I do have them, but have no idea what values to select, and I dont really want to enter in a number that will cause genuine emails to be deleted.

As long as you enter a filter to deliver the spam, or don't select the "Delete Spam" or such, you can play around with the scores until you find what works. 5 is the default in cPanel and is fairly aggressive. The lower you go, the more aggressive it's going to be. You can see using the headers what score each email has received.

Almost every legitimate email I receive is well below 1.
