    Question Movable Type compatible please

know of any free host that is MT-compatible?

    here are the requirements:

    * The ability to run custom CGI scripts
    * Perl, version 5.004_04 or greater

    And, either:

Support for the DB_File Perl module *OR* MySQL & the DBD::mysql module

also, would greatly prefer it if there were NO ADS. if that is not possible, maybe a textlink or a popunder ad would be ok.

and a subdomain. http://myname.servername.com would be great.

I can't say if these actually have the right Perl version and module, but they at least support Perl:

http://www.4gigs.com -- text link required, no subdomain
http://www.portland.co.uk -- no ads, has subdomain, but very slow and unreliable
or perhaps http://www.demented.org (no ads) except they seem to be down right now...

4gigs would be best if it happens to support the modules you need.

    hello,

I know that Portland doesn't have the DB_File Perl module, because I tried installing Moveable Type myself there. I don't know about DBD::mysql, though.

I have one at http://www.netfirms.com but they have a banner ad. You can also try http://www.l33t.ca

i tried Portland, but i keep getting an Internal Server Error. no response from their support desk yet.

i clicked http://www.l333t.ca but isn't currently accepting new signups.

i tried applying at http://www.cdnhost.net hopefully things will go well. i'll try 4gigs in case it doesn't.

thanks! will let you know how things go.
