This is a call for help from a PHP beginner, trying to be clever...

Okay, so I messed up. I wasn't happy with YaBB because I thought it looked too basic, so when I saw phpBB I fell in love with its curvy graphics and user-friendly interface and it was free! One download later, I look through the first of the manual and realise, "what was I thinking?" I have NO experience of PHP and I don't really understand it at all. The thing is, I really want a phpBB, so could someone help me? I offer a good rate of pay- blinkies, dude!- and I would be sooo grateful if someone could help me out here.

    Thanks alot.
So hey, I'll be more than willing to setup a phpBB2 for you, if you have a host that supports PHP and has a MySQL database.

(ill do the below 4 u if u want but here is how to set up ur forum)

get an account at http://members.lycos.co.uk, they have all u need for the forum. just sign up and upload all ur files with an ftp prog.

Then log on to your account at htp://members.lycos.co.uk and go t the php section on the left bar.

then on that page click "enable mySQL database" or something like that.

then go to http://members.lycos.co.uk/yourname/your phpBB dirctory/install.php.

leave the 1st section the way it is

in the second section make the 1st blank "localhost"

next make your Database name = "yourname_uk_db"

make your DB logon name "yourlogonname"
