The story of Blank Verse
Background reading. Don't worry, it's not a long thread.
When we last left off, our hero, Blank Verse was off to the depths of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, to study to become a journalist and one of the more prestigious schools in Canada in this field (how I was admitted is anyone's guess).
Anywho, things had gone ahead as planned, and I arrived in Ottawa and went to check in to my new home. What a bonus when I met the girl I was going to be living with. Hot damn! Furthermore, classes started, and my journalism 1101 prof is really cool. This is going to be an awesome year. Naturally, something bad had to happen.
There was a small glitch in the plan that I already knew about. I would have to miss a couple of days of classes because I had to return home to Calgary, due to the fact that I was going to be in the wedding party at my uncle's wedding. I was assured instant yet still excrutiatingly painful death if I were to miss this wedding.
Which brings me to my problem. The day before the day I had to leave, I decided to time how long it would take me to get from home to the airport via the bus system in Ottawa. Well, it took 45 minutes. Not bad, I thought, but I should still leave really early tomorrow.
Enter said tomorrow. I leave 2 HOURS early. Pretty good I thought. However, somehow Ottawa Transit suffers Armaggeddon. My first bus is late, my connector bus was not only late, but also not going to the place it's supposed to be. People dowtown seemed to be getting on, then getting off a block later like they couldn't walk that. I arrive at the airport at 5:35 P.M. for my 5:30 flight. The next flight out to Calgary: 6:45 AM the next morning. Great, sign me up...not trusting the bus company, I decide I'll tough out the 13 hour wait at the airport. Broke and hungry, that was me. Then the pain started.
About a half hour following my missed flight, I feel a sharp pain in my stomach. "You haven't eaten all day, you're just really hungry"...but then the pain got worse. Then around midnight, the pain spread to my back. This was defintely the most unpleasant thing I've ever gone through. (the whole spending 13 hours in an airport, with no energy, no food, and a lot of pain) Around 4:45 I puked up the water I drank earlier, plus whatever was left from my meager breakfast that morning.
Finally, I can get on the plane. This is WestJet, discount airlines, no fringe benefits all the way baby. This also means I have to connect onto two different flights on what should be a short flight to Calgary. On the first flight to Hamilton, we're given snacks. I chose the cookies and a gingerale. After we landed in Hamilton, I got off the plane, puked that up, got back on the plane, and spent half the flight to both Winnipeg and then Calgary sitting in front of the can, waiting to puke again. Finally, I get to Calgary...I can't wait to get home. Finally, a chance to sleep. My parents immediately see I'm sick and can't wait to get me home. However, first, my Dad and I have to go pick up our tuxes for the wedding. I'm in so much pain, I can't even change into mine to see if it fits. That's when we decide, let's get old Blank Verse to a hospital. After waiting a mere hour in emergency, it's finally discovered that my appendix has not only burst, but perferated as well. Hoo boy, time for surgery! Well, 6 hours later, that is.
Surgery goes well, however, the fact that my appendix perferated means that all this bacterial fluid spread through my abdomen, around my lungs, and into my pelvis, turning what should have been a 3 day stay at the hospital last 3 weeks. Plus, because of all this fluid, I had a total of 6 tubes stuck inside my body draining these said fluids, including one pleasant one that was stuck up my nose and down my throat. Yummy. Plus, I was on oxygen, because I was so short on breath due to the fluids around my lung.
I arrived home last night. No more tubes, however I have a few scars and am in a very weakened state. I can milk being this sick, as it's a projected two month recovery, but unfortunately, no beer for me for a whileThat's my story. I guess I'll be around for a while, thanks to my medical deferral from school for at least the semester, plus the fact that I can't go out and get a job yet, pretty much confined to my house for a while. So I'll be around, which I know doesn't sit well with a lot of you
Anywho, it's been a month, what'd I miss? Anyone get banned?

Umm you didn't miss much really, well not that I can think of. And I can't think of anyone that got banned.

Aw, I missed Johnny. Damn, what a shame.
anyways, thanks for the support, and yes, the appendix really is only there to be removed.
I'm recovering well. After you've been rid of the multitude of tubes stuck in your body, it's amazing how quickly you feel better.

I just want to say, that it's not been very fun around here without Blank Verse.
Also, sorry about all that, but at least it all went well (enough) and you can lay around for a while. That's always good.
