    Please help recommend host?

I am looking for a host, and I need to sign up with one within the next 1-2 weeks, so please suggest any reliable/ legit hosts that may fit my requirements:

First, I only have about 25$ to start off (including first months bill and domain registration), so I cant use any host that makes you pay multiple months up front, or a setup fee.

    The things I definitely need:

    -25 MB web space
    -3 GB data transfer
    -CGI-Bin
    -Perl
    -PHP
    -1 MySQL Dbs
    -SSI
    -5 Pop 3 e-mail accounts
-Customer Support (at least 6 days a week through e-mail/support tickets)

Thats pretty much it. I need something thats cheap, less than $10 a month, and domain registration less then $10 per year.

    Please help if possible, thanks!

smurfo9 for domain registration, www.godaddy.com and www.namecheap.com are under $10.

For hosting, it might help if you ask for offers from hosts who allow monthly payments (instead of recommendations). I know there are a few reputable ones who allow it. Alternatively, browse the hosting offers forum and click on the links of hosts to see if monthly payments are an option.

In reply to Jan, dont most hosts charge an extra fee for transfering a domain name? Like if I was to purchase the domain with godaddy, and then I buy a host, wouldnt I have to pay extra to set up the domain on the host? Or is a transfer only if you have existing files on another host?

No the hosts don't charge you (at least the reputable ones don't ) You don't have to transfer your domain when you get a host, just login to your domain registrar account (eg godaddy.com) and enter the name servers that your new host will provide for you in their setup confirmation email.

    thanks..

I appreciate the replies. Its just so darn hard to find the right host, because pretty much all of them are trying to make some money off of you. I know how it works, I took Economics. I just want a host that will meet my needs, and that will help me if I need help, as well as putting my site on a fast and reliable connection!

    www.myacen.com
    www.enhancedhost.com
    www.iminteractive.net
    www.worldzonepro.com
    www.byzhosting.com

These are a few long established hosts who are not out to make a quick buck, and have good support. Check them all for monthly payments. I know you can pay monthly at worldzonepro.com

    carl..

I know you work for myacen carl, and yes I am open to offers. I am the one that had the onegreatsite.1world4u.com that you offered me a long time ago. I havent been online for months, due to some personal problems, and then my motherboard and processor blew out. So for the past month I have been trying to fix my computer, it is finally up and running after replacing the motherboard, processor, 2 hard drives (the power supply was giving insufficient power so it was shorting everything), the memory, and the power supply. That is why im short on money at the moment.

    Hello,

Well I did stop offering hosting due to the fact I left Myacen. I have now re-joined so I can offer once more.

As for the computer problems. Very unlucky for all that to blow up... but you know when something goes wrong my luck is that everything goes wrong big style. The way of the world i'm afraid. I'm just waiting for my HDD to fail.....

As for short on the money. I know the feeling.

Now, finally with regards to your requirements.

    Beginner
    100MB Disk Space
    3GB Monthly Data Transfer
    5 MySQL Database
    And much more.
    http://www.myacen.com/virtualhosting.html
    Cost: $8.95 per month

Its not the cheapest plan on earth. It is our cheapest plan though.

As for domain: You can order a domain via us for $10.95/yearly via http://www.liveregistry.com However thats currently down. You can order via our normal billing system. Accounts are not instant but manually processed.

The list Jan provided is the one to look at. Everyone in that list has been around 1 year and above.

    thanks carl

I just have a few more questions for you carl:

Is Myacen based in Australia? If so how might that directly affect my web site because I am in CA, USA?

Also, does Myacen operate in Unix/Linux, or in Win?

You could take a look at http://www.3-95.com/ as well.. the support is good except they "won't hold your hands" as in you can't submit a support ticket asking "how do I create an email account" but the forums are good and plenty of people willing to help.
Good luck finding the best host for you, it can be intimidating

If you're unsure make a list of the top 5 ones you like best and write the pro/cons. It always helps to send a mail to sales@ as well to get a feel as to how quick they reply and if they're friendly or not.

    Hello,

Myacen Network itself is based in Perth, Australia. I myself am based in England, UK. Support is provided 24/7 via our helpdesk. The servers are located mainly in the US with one currently in Australia. All our packages listed currently on myacen.com are on our US servers.

We use currently Red Hat Linux 7.3 on all servers with CPanel 6.2 control panel.
