    Temporary Internet Files ??

    hi all,

I'm cleaning up my disk a bit because my C:\ drive is allready for 3/4 full of stuff. And when i first started it was only 1/2 full. On that time i had the same programs installed then i have now. I cleaned up my Temporary Internet Files but still when i right click on the TIF folder it says that there are 9 folders in it and bla bla files in total around 400 MB !!

while i open it and i see nothing in it, because i deleted all the temp files. how can i clean the whole folder up? i did disk cleaning but it does the same as what i did by hand.

Also i have another question, i have Outlook Express, the standard one wich i use on my computer for my emailadres from my provider. Then i installed office 2000 and i got Microsoft Outlook with it. Am i able to delete the microsoft outlook one? because i dont use it, i only use the standard one (the one with the white envelope and the 2 blue arrows around it). I tried deleting it with the 'software' option in configuration screen. But it gives me the message if i'm sure iwant to delete it because i might want to use it bla bla bla.

    Thanks

    Love,
    MIrna

Did you restart the computer after? that might help Also for future, reduce the maximum file size in your TIF.

And as for deleting MS products, 'they' don't tend to like that, so disable it from startup

    After restarting your comp....
If you get the same result, may be your computer is infected by VBS Redlof @M. It attacks html and jpg files, and "eats" your disk space. Try to update your virus definition. Mc Afee is capable of cleaning this virus.
......Do you find folder.htt and desktop.ini in lot of amount?

Have you enabled to see the hidden files?

Once I found there are like 20 hidden files whose sizes are several MBs each.

Thanks all, i noticed when you save something from the web it will be stored into a weird map name into Ac53Oo90 etc. Well i found out that those maps together take up 445 MB

but when i clicked "delete" on one of those folders it said it where systemfolders and that if i delete them windows could not be working properly again. So i cancelled it but still, is there a way to clean this up?

I'm sorry to bugging you guys with these easy questions, but i'm really not advanched into stuff like this lol. Thanks

You can still clear the contents of those folders.. it should just give you a warning about desktop.ini so choose no for that one but all the other files can safely go.
One time for me those folders were filled with about 10.000 zero byte files.

    Ok cool thanks

EDIT: clearing up those folders is useless..... because it still has 445 MB in it no matter what. What i meant was if i could delete those maps below "content IE 5.0" ? All those maps show me the same content, while it are different maps... so i dont' understand why they are there....

    Thanks

Problem is fixed. I found something on the internet that didn't cleared up my cookies and didn't made me use another web browser but only deleted all the unnessecary files

I had to restart computer in MS-DOS mode, then type cd\windows then type "deltree tempor~1" (without quotes) and it askes if i want to confirm, i pressed "Y" and it deleted everything in the TEMP folder that needed to be cleared up.

now i have only 1/2 of the disk full Thanks people for your help
