Dial-Up Connection - Failed to establish connection

I am having an issue with my Dial-Up connection. It dials in, it says it's connected and verifying username and password, then it says failed to establish connection and the box closes. I then have to open MSN or Opera and try connecting to a site or signing into MSN to make the Dial-Up box appear again, and the second time, although i haven't changed anything, I am dialled in perfectly fine. I am about 90% sure it isn't my provider, most likely a glitch on my computer, I am guessing. Any ideas?

If it says 'Failed to establish connection', am I still charged for that phone call?

    Thanks!

I haven't used a dialup connection in 3 1/2 years but it sounds like your ISP and not your computer.
    YourIP.us - Check your IP
Checksite.us - Check if a site is down or not
ReverseIP.us - Check how many sites are hosted on the same server.

Yes you are, once it gets to the verifying, you are charged. And yes it is your ISP. Give them a call and they might help you configure your "extra" settings.

It is your ISP. I had it with Freeserve in England and it drove me nuts...
    Do you get disconnected regularly?
