I haven't heard of any player that can play a MP3 DVD -- if they do exist they certainly aren't standard on most DVD players like MP3 CDs are.
I wanna rip all the CDs I own so I can play them on my home theather system without having keep swapping them. It looks like I might need more space than the 700MB a CD provides (which is enough to fit about 20 full lenght albums). I have a DVD burner though, so I was wondering if you can make an mp3 DVD?
4.7 GB would be plenty of space to store my music, and I can use a higher bitrate if I did that too.

Burn it in MP3 format and some DVD players can read it and play over a large stereo system.

I am not sure how is it in the USA but here we have many brandless DVD and VCD players which can do everything for 4-5 times cheaper than branded players. But the quality sucks.
You'd have to compile the DVD with a dummy vid track (nothing in it) as a standard DVD vid and add seperately the audio in a different format (you can select various bitrates for normal, extended, etc.)- then build a jukebox menu (which would be bloody huge) for the chapters.

I know you can record your music to DVDs using DVD audio discs and a compatible player (which is pretty much any mainstream player released in 2003). I know you don't need to do what Decker says anymore. There are SACD discs that hold 7 times as much as CDs and are much much higher quality, and then there are DVD-Audio discs. I have found this to be a very helpful site.
