No XP SP2 for Pirated Copies
I'm curious if you fine people know if the SP2 beta has a pirated software detector in it. Is it safe to install the beta?

Don't use warez, and you'll have nothing to worry about.![]()
Insert lame joke here.
Microsoft will blacklist 20 most used pirated key so that SP2 will not install. That's in the final version though. They can't simply black list all numbers, cos it will bloat the SP2 instalaltion up.Originally Posted by ¿§ýþhøñ?

The blacklisting is normally held on a database server so when you connect to the internet the OS automatically checks.

i don't really think so.. what about for offline installations of the service pack..
they obviously can't block pirated copies being used, it would easier to target the idiot computer users who don't know better.. remember SP1.. easily circumvented with slipstreaming, i don't see a reason why it can't be used again...
