Well, if something's pirated, it's certainly not legal.
And what is legal cannot be called pirated.

Legal : because there is the direct links for softwares and games demos and sharewares versions
Pirate : because there is the links to serials and key gens for theses softwares and games !
in other way russians sites leech.
BUT : i don't host any cracks or keygens in my hoster server, i use only links to other servers, so we can't call my site WAREZ SITE, only REVIEW SITE, there is BIG difference!

It doesn't matter mon ami. Hosts do not want even links to cracks/keygen/anything that has to do with warez at all. As long as you have ANYTHING TO DO with warez, it will be very hard for you to find hosting, especially for "gratuit".

Piracy is not detrimental. It's a form of advertising, do you really expect someone to buy your crap if they don't even want it for free?
Very few hosts will accept that as a legal site. While technically it is legal, it still runs a very very thin line of being illegal.
Most hosts will NOT accept sites like that.
it's sure, if there is warez related site, no one will offer me 200 mb, but it's not always true, cause i will show your ADS on my site and i don't have any cracks or keygen in my web account, so it's little bit different. i was hosted by necron.uni.cc before, but now he is downgood guy

I am afraid they are right. American hosts can and do get in trouble for hosting sites that include links or even information to illegal things, such as cracks. You won't find a free host that will allow that stuff easily.
And about your host going down...it doesn't suprise me.
