Now everyone has it, it's quite lame. It was cool when invites went for $50 on eBay.

Info domains should always be free, I don't know why anyone would want to pay for one. I registered like 60 when they were free, coz they were free... But they will just sit there unused, well most of them. If you want a real site you have to have '.com' as it is the most memorable.

If I could give away free .info's I would change my sig maybe..

the free .info boom killed the .info extension imo

I associate them with uni.cc or .tk, on the same level.

You can understand what they were trying to do though... Get hundreds of thousands of domains signed up, and hope atleast 20% of the free domains get renewed... But with a dodgey extension like info, they will be lucky to get 5%.

When the average person (in the United States) thinks of links, that person thinks of .com or perhaps .net.
I personally think that paying for .info would be a waste of money.
In 1997 when Yahoo submissions had to be done manually, I felt really good when I saw one of my pages indexed in Yahoo! entitled, "Rhianna Wishes Everyone Happy Holidays." Those were the days when it wasn't so easy to get into Yahoo!

I also felt special because there weren't many rhiannas listed in any search engine let alone Yahoo!

In 1998 I created another holiday page with the same title and checked out google. At that time (and I still have a base site with my ISP) my site was www.pipeline.com/~rhianna
To my dismay, someone had bought a rhianna.com domain name and she was a porn star

That seems to be a tainted domain

I can understand shelling out money for a trade name/trademark but just for the name rhianna? I'd need a really fancy site to match. Now there are millions of rhiannas in the search engines. I was the original Vampire Rhianna but now I see other vampires named rhianna on .ru sites

Now there's a singer in England with Sony Music backing her domain as rhiannamusic.com or something like that.
