Looking at your prices, that's not really too far from what you're offering...Originally Posted by utcrazy
Hello everyone,
Let me just go on rants as I usually do. Far too often do I see someone wanting cheap, but still good hosting. There MUST be a line somewhere. Is there no one out there that wants solid hosting? That is willing to pay a few extra dollars for a place that isn't going to run away with their money. Have you ever seen a thread asking for expensive hosting? It's not that I want my prices to be higher, or more clients. It's the fact that people want 40GB disk space and 400GB bandwidth for "less then 10 plzzzz"
Discuss, cheap hosting, cheap clients, where do we draw the line between decent pricing, and majorly over-selling?
I realize this topic isn't as fun as the one's that have come across latelyBut I think it is an important topic.
Ciao. By the way, I don't need hosting.

My prices are fair, they pay for the servers, I don't over-sell, I don't know what else to say.I offer 15GB disk for $19.50, not even 40GB disk with shared hosting.

LOL read through all the threads on the CPanel thread![]()
I have seen requests for expensive web hosts. I think you should be paying at least $10-20 per month as a minimum but that just isn't happening. The good old days![]()
Just go back 6 month's and you can see how many of those sites are still online![]()

They all know they can get it cheap, thats why they ask, the market has changed too much & WAY TOO FAST. Also these ''unlimited'' resellers just offer silly amounts, I saw one post a few months ago & the person wanted 10gb of bandwidth & some guy offered him 100GB <<<< & all for $2 /mo. 90% of the time they will go with the cheapest. Its the same with this reseller panel, 300GB for $5 mo, but as the market has changed the hosting companies have too. They ''HAVE'' to offer higher than what they use too as they have to compete with the market. Just my $0.02.

Yep. Clients go with the cheapest, and usually don't look at uptimes.
Life is very short, and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend.
As always, if most kiddies and the uninformed wouldnt have "showcased" the "penny plans" then the industry wouldnt be the way that it is now. Same thing like a buddy of mine is going thru, sales of cell phone accessories at the flea market, when the increase of foreigners came here to the US they flooded the market with super cheap cell phone items which normally were priced around $10 but they sold for $1-2.Originally Posted by Tree

I'm thinking of getting me a resseller account and i'd rather go with a reliable host instead of a cheap one but also i'd be looking at the space and bandwidth. i think it's normal that people want cheap stuff. if you're not going to make that much money off of it why spend as much? I have yet to find a reason for gettin an expensive host. i just wana make sure they've been around for a while then the second interest is going to be on their price for me.
Learning php so turned off the distractions, like the rep

I usually go to the one with most specs and usually don't look at prices.Originally Posted by Tree

If it was just the baby hosts that offered these outrageous plans than fine, more power to ya! But it is not! Netfirms offers 250gb/mth for 3$, and fws.net has shown their banner since the day I first stepped foot into this place! 1and1.com, ipowerweb.com, lunarhost.com etc. Are not your "kiddie hosts". I've made this argument before: The companies who have been around the longest and have the biggest names are the ones offering the outrageously cheap offers, not the kiddies!
And it just makes sense for the customer, these big companies have been around WAY longer than your honest, expensive hosts, what proof does the customer even have that the more expensive host is better? The kind words on the website? Come on, times are changing.

Piracy is not detrimental. It's a form of advertising, do you really expect someone to buy your crap if they don't even want it for free?
Ok this isn't really a rant, but here it is:
About my website career:
First began about 2 years a go(I think maybe 3) I ran in to a company called: www.stormweb.net Stormweb. They offered 500 mb disk space, 1 ftp account, emmm 50 gb bandwidth, and you had to pay $5 extra / month for 1 mysql database. Nowadays I still have a contract with www.superbhosting.net. They are an alright, solid company that I don't really have any complaints with except to be able to name your own user account and databases, rofl. Also now adays I'm part owner of a hosting company, thats about it... enjoy me little post my little donkies
*shrugs* I've had about 10 websites and not once paid for hosting. I've always had ad-free feature packed software for $0. Contacts.
In all that we are losing
Aren't we just confusing
Youth with beauty?
Truth with duty?
That's the point utcrazy was trying to make. Ppl expect free or really cheap hosting. If the hosting is quality it should be more expensive than cheap >:O
Yes, there are people willing to pay good money for good hosting, but they don't hang around this forum. We pick up a few additional customers here but if you are trying to run a successful host by only targeting school kids with no money then you may want to reconsider your business strategy.Far too often do I see someone wanting cheap, but still good hosting. There MUST be a line somewhere. Is there no one out there that wants solid hosting?![]()
