How could you eg know if a vBulletin or a IPB forum have a valid licens?

There is some people from here in the past telling by just seeing the forum

they've judge, that ither it's valid or not.

And I'm just wonder how you guys know if a forum is legit or not.

I'm just curious that's all.

Yeah, cause there is usually hostings here that need to know how to make sure there isin't anything illegal by their forums.

Why I ask it here is because some hostings here know how, maybe not all but some.

And that's probably cause they don't want as Starcraftmazter said anything illegal activities on their servers.

But the question now is how do you determine if a forum is legit or not?

Contact vBulletin with the url of the forum you suspect is using an illegal copy and they will let you know.

Exactly, also, with invision one can try to use the method of ?ipscheck=1 added to the index.php in the url to check, but remember that is not 100% fail safe either.

Invision has stopped IPSCHECK. Also, I email Jelsoft if I suspect someone is running an illegal copy of vBulletin.

Just one more thing, it's good and all that I could report forums.

But how could I get suspected on a forum without knowing if the line that says:

Licensed to: Name

Is same on all boards, a forum with a legit version looks the same as one without.

all you can do is look for the marks of the cracker - ie 'PWND BY U2UNDERGRNDTEAM' would be a hint to tell you its not legit. If you think its suspicous, there's nothing else you can do but report it (ips/vB will check it out)
