Hi

any opinions or experience with voxel.net?

I am looking for uptime and speed and won't go with anything that is too cheap. Had to learn it the hard way a couple of times in a row and finally got it hehe...

I am looking for long term experience if available. I searched WHT and groups.google.com and didn't find much.

Well if this helps you at all, WHT is hosted by Voxel. Maybe you could get some more opinions over there too.

Thanks, I knew that, but I thought I lurk around here a little because it is not hosted by them... not to say they would be subjective because of that just getting input from the other side of the ocean

Hi ya'. Well, as has been discussed, WHT is hosted by them. I didn't personally pick voxtel, but I will tell you that we received quite a few generous offers by various hosts and datacenters, and we *didn't* pick voxtel because we thought they weren't up to the task.

WHT isn't exactly an easy board to host. If it goes down for a second, people start posting. The board is demanding, though it is now on a dual something-or-other (I can't recall, PIII933 I *think*), and probably isn't the average site.

You are free to email the owner of WHT (info available about this at WHT, see rules).

I'll also point out that *this* forum has run smoothly every since I've been here, and it might be worth taking a look into who hosts FWS. I'm really trying to sound impartial here and not give everything away. These are my honest unbiased (as much as I can be) opinions, nothing more, nothing less.

I see WHT more or less like you do, maybe more often, but it seems to load fine for me (I'm on DSL), as does this forum. This forum seems to load faster, more often than WHT (but again, that's for me and your results might vary).

WHT has been down before, it has been slow before, but generally it runs smoothly. I've not known if it was the server, the network or what exactly. They don't tell us mod monkeys much. As I said though, I'm not sure I'd judge voxtel on WHT alone anyhow.

Dialtone, hmmm. (FWS) Will need to read more about them. I know they are well known but somehow I never paid attention to them.


Well, I have my server running at voxel.net since about a day now. Not really a long term experience, but I surely hope to have a great uptime. I have dsl, too, but doesn't work right know. Can't wait to compare real life speed with dsl.
