Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll try them out.
How on earth my SHTML pages can load in seconds but not even a simply cgi script, I'll never know. :confused2
Cheers, Asa
The domain is usually always accessible - it's the cgi or whatever allows the cgi that seems to be slow and breaking down. Sadly Ikonboard don't make their scripts in php!
I notice your domain goes straight to the forum. Is there any way I can do this? I've got a measly HTML redirect page...
Trouble is admin, we can't be assured of a reply. You should have received my emails yesterday to both support@ and admin@ addresses from either asa@asanet.co.uk or email@asahicks.fsnet.co.uk asking about when the V5 account is being set up.
Echoing the question from Woodster, is there a time...
Ah, sorry about that! I've sent it again both to admin@ and support@ addresses so hopefully it should appear now, in someone's inbox!
Thanks for getting back to me,
Asa
Compensation (a term you mentioned) I think he means, VH.
I was just wondering whether Admin received my email? I've been having problems (nothing to do with VH!!) with it recently. I basically have just been asking whether my account could be set up and the new IP forwarded to me, therefore...
Well I'm (tvforum.co.uk) currently on the old server because of no email, but if the latest deadline is Thursday, then I can't complain (I must be at the back end of the V5 list!)
I'm in the process of downloading my thread/cgi/perl files used on IB, so if worst comes to the worst, I won't...
IB3? Is is because of all the database stuff?
Surely they can simply move the .cgi/.thd/.pl files over or at least give you enough time to download them through FTP and reupload them on the new server?
Starting from scratch simply isn't an option for me!
Cheers, Asa
I'm not aiming this question in any particular person's direction but I was wondering when my files were copid onto the new server. I have a pretty active forum (if I do say so myself...) and wonder at what point it was done.
I know the email that I will shortly receive will say:
"Dear...
Thanks for keeping us updated Joe - very appreciated.
The CGI problem (seems) to have subsided and hopefully will be non-existent when the site is on the new server.
This thread must have disheartened the people at VH a little but I will happily sing their praises if it's all sorted soon...
I am so glad I came across these forums while VH's are unavailable.
I'm on the V5 plan and have heard nothing in the way of mailings out that my friend (who's on a lower plan) has - he has been forwarding them to me.
